Max Clifford's death closes a chapter on the misrepresentation of PR

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations has been asked to comment on the death of Max Clifford, but we will not be doing so as he was never a member of the Institute, and he operated at the extreme fringes of PR.

His passing closes a chapter in which the media frequently conflated publicity with professional public relations. We will continue to champion professionalism and ethics, which will evolve both the practice of PR, and how it is perceived.
