Candice Robinson becomes 1,000th Chartered PR Practitioner
Communications and Engagement Manager at the North East London NHS Foundation Trust, Candice Robinson Chart.PR, has been named the 1,000th Chartered PR Practitioner.
The milestone was reached following the Institute’s latest assessment day on 18 June where Candice and 19 other members were awarded chartered status. It means that 49 members were chartered in the second quarter of this year - including members from Croatia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Ghana, and the UK – and takes the total number of Chartered PR Practitioners to 1,008.
The Institute was awarded a Royal Charter in 2005 and with it, the ability to designate chartered practitioner status, the highest badge of professionalism within the PR profession. It has chartered the most recent 500 members within the last four years, demonstrating a growing demand for and increased value of professional recognition.
Chartership is a demonstration of a professional’s expertise and knowledge of public relations practice across strategy, ethics, and leadership.
The CIPR has marked reaching 1,000 Chartered Practitioners with a new Chartership Wall, where chartered members relate through stories, videos and personal reflections why they pursued Chartership and the impact it has had on their careers.

The whole process, from preparation to the assessment day itself, was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. It was both challenging and insightful, and I learned so much about myself and from others taking part.
I know and understand what good PR practice looks like and what is expected of me as a strategic communicator, but I have not always had confidence. For me, becoming Chartered is not only about demonstrating that I uphold industry standards and adhere to the CIPR Code of Conduct. It is also about quietening that little voice that has, at times, held me back.
Achieving Chartered status has given me the confidence to trust my own judgement and recognise the value I bring to the profession.
My congratulations go to Candice and to all members who achieved Chartership this quarter. To pass 1,000 Chartered Practitioners is a proud moment for our profession and for everyone who has helped build its standing. This milestone raises the bar for the industry and puts PR on a more equal footing with other chartered professions.
Each of our 1,000 Chartered members has chosen to be measured against the most demanding standards we set. They are the people employers and clients can trust to practise with skill and integrity. I am proud of how far we have come, and excited by a future in which Chartership becomes the mark of public relations practised at its best.
