CIPR announces second interactive Equal Access Network event

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has today announced that it will be hosting the second ‘Equal Access Network Event’ at the CIPR Public Relations Centre in Russell Square, central London on Tuesday 4 December 2012.

The ‘Equal Access Network’ is a networking group for practitioners who are affected by or have an interest in issues relating to diversity in employment and representation within public relations. Registration is free and open to members and non-members alike.

The event will be headlined by Harish Bhayani, a specialist diversity consultant, researcher and trainer, and founder and senior partner of PRM Diversity Consultants. Harish will deliver a presentation entitled ‘Biased and Ignorant!,’ an interactive debate and discussion about unconscious biases which can cause inadvertent discrimination and its implications for public relations teams.

Cornelius Alexander, CIPR Fellow and Chair of the Institute’s Diversity Working Group said:

Cornelius Alexander, Chair of the CIPR’s Diversity Working Group
After the success of our first Equal Access Network (EAN) event we are keen to encourage those with an interest in improving diversity in PR to come together to learn, study, and discuss these very real issues with others. We think it is important that the EAN, along with similar social events, offers those in PR opportunities to establish strong links with fellow practitioners from across the industry. The CIPR wants to continue to improve diversity and representation within the PR industry to unlock the best talent and effectively grow the profession, and we see events such as the Equal Access Network as a key component of a wider movement.
