CIPR PRide Awards celebrate outstanding practice in the Midlands

More than 230 PR professionals gathered at The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre last night for the CIPR PRide Awards – the region’s annual public relations showpiece.

WPR were the big winners of the night, scooping four Gold Awards including the coveted Outstanding Young Communicator title, awarded to Account Director Jade Mansell MCIPR.

Stafford-based Stone Junction took home three Gold Awards, including the Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy award for the second consecutive year. Judges praised them for their “clear business objectives, solid performance against targets and sound strategies for the business and their people”.

Balls2 Marketing were named Outstanding Small Public Relations Consultancy and Keele University picked up the Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team Award.

This year's shortlist makes for enormously inspiring reading. Each category is truly fearsome; every single one looks like the group of death, to borrow a sporting term. The winners of each award - Gold or Silver - can truly hold their heads high and say they've achieved something special this year.

I also believe that the Midlands is achieving something special as part of the PR industry overall. The region is vibrant and challenging, and we can all proudly point to the quality of work on show at the PRide Awards as evidence. Personally, I am inspired daily by the CIPR's brilliant volunteers and the Midlands' fantastic practitioners and, for this, I can't express the depth of my thanks.
