CIPR's election year conference launches to explore impact on communications

The Chartered Institute of Public Relation's (CIPR) Annual Conference returns on Thursday 21 November 2024 at the County Hall in London to bring together PR practitioners from around the world to explore the impact of this global election year on public relations and communications.

Sponsored by Cision, PA Mediapoint, and Specialist Speakers, ‘Changing politics. The impact on communications’ will explore the wide-ranging impacts on PR, communications, and public affairs across all levels of practice in a year when around half the world’s population is participating in national elections. Attendees will join industry peers for thought-provoking discussions and gain practical insights on what a new Labour government will mean for the UK and global industry, how new legislation will impact the international business landscape, how to engage with newly elected representatives, and how to get cut through with a politics-focused media.

Speakers announced so far include:

  • Iain Anderson FRSA, Founding and Executive Chairman at H/Advisors Cicero with over 30 years’ experience as a political adviser, business journalist, and board-level advisor
  • Mark Earls, HERDMeister at HERD, an award-winning writer and consultant on human behaviour, contemporary communications and behaviour change
  • Peter Heneghan, Founder of The Future Communicator, AI Advisor, and former Head of Digital Comms at UK Government and 10 Downing Street
  • Gemma Kappala-Ramsamy, Head of Media and Public Affairs at London Councils

We're halfway through a significant year of change as nearly half the world's population heads to the polls. The global shifting of power impacts our politics, economies, and societies with the ripple effects touching every corner of business and the PR profession.

This year’s conference is a chance to assess these global changes and explore strategies to navigate the choppy waters ahead. In a world where a tweet can spark a diplomatic crisis and where corporate values are scrutinised like never before, understanding the new rules of engagement isn't just beneficial - it's essential for our survival and success.
