New CIPR Board bring "challenge and expertise to help us ensure our focus is on our members"

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) has announced the line-up of the Institute's Board of Directors for 2020.

The new Board comprises senior public relations professionals from a range of award-winning consultancies and in-house teams with all three Honorary Officer positions held by women for the second year running.

Honorary officers:

Elected members:

Co-opted members:

CIPR President, Jenni Field Chart.PR, FCIPR
Having volunteered with the CIPR since 2012 I’m really excited to take on the role of President. I’m delighted to have a strong team with me on Board and on Council with individuals who bring challenge and expertise to help us ensure our focus is on our members.

The two co-opted members to the board were chosen because I wanted to make sure we had senior agency representation as well as some diversity of thought. I know Rachel has a passion for development and professionalism in her team and being outside London will ensure she brings a perspective of our members who are not in the capital. Benjamin and I have worked together for a number of years so I know his background in engineering and psychology complements and challenges my own.

We have lots to do in 2020 as we enter a new decade. My focus will be on ensuring we talk more about the different elements of PR with content and events linked to public affairs, marketing communications and internal communications. Equally, I want to see more and more people taking their professional conduct seriously and investing in their development – whether that is a qualification, getting chartered or listening to podcasts – there is something for everyone and I firmly believe we need to develop ourselves to better serve those we work for.
