Notice of CIPR's 2020 AGM, CIPR Elections and office closure

Notice of CIPR's 2020 AGM

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR)’s 2020 Annual General Meeting will be held on 11 September by Zoom. The online space will be open from 5:00pm and the meeting will be called to order at 5:30pm. This will be an opportunity to hear from our 2019 President Emma Leech about the achievements last year, from 2020 President Jenni Field about what the CIPR is doing at the moment, and from Mandy Pearse about what some of her plans are for 2021 when she becomes President.

The 2019 accounts have been published online here.

CIPR members can register to attend here. A zoom link will be sent out to registered members a few hours before the meeting on 11 September.

CIPR Elections

This year CIPR members will choose a President-Elect for 2021 as well a new Council for 2021-22. The regulations under which these elections will be held have recently been updated and can be read here (Appendix C – Rules for the Conduct of Elections). Anyone considering standing as a candidate, or intending to publicly support a candidate, must read these regulations to be clear about how and when campaigning is allowed.

The timetable for the elections and requirements for candidates can be found here.

For an informal private discussion about the role of a Council member or of President-Elect, contact one of the current office holders or contact Chief Executive Alastair McCapra.

CIPR office summer shutdown

Please be aware that Institute staff are finishing work at 5:00pm on Thursday 30 July and not returning to work until 9:00am on Wednesday 5 August. We hope this does not cause any inconvenience and we hope you have an opportunity to pause for breath and enjoy the summer too.

CIPR and Influence emails

We will be using the opportunity to do essential development work on our mailing lists functionalities and features so please note that there will be no member email on Wednesday 5 August, no Influence email on Friday 31 July and Friday 7 August, and no emails from CIPR Groups on Monday 3 August and Monday 10 August.
