Iprovision allocates full 75 Fund to support disadvantaged PR practitioners
Iprovision, the benevolent fund of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), has allocated the full £75,000 of its specially created 75 Fund. The fund was created to support people from financially or socially disadvantaged backgrounds to advance or begin a career in the public relations profession.
The 75 Fund aims to foster a more diverse and inclusive PR community. It was launched to help celebrate in the Institute’s 75th anniversary year.
Over the course of six months and two application windows, the Fund allocated its full total of £75,000. More than 150 people applied to the fund and some 60 successful applicants will benefit from direct grants to fund their PR qualifications, training courses and access to CIPR membership.
Direct help to CIPR members from the 75 Fund approached £13,000, with more than £60,000 being directed towards supporting non-members to enter the profession.
I’m very proud of the fact that the Iprovision 75 Fund has been able to support so many people to advance or start their careers in the industry. We know how critically important diversity is in building a stronger, more resilient PR profession and it’s fantastic to see this initiative be so effective in promoting social mobility and opening a pathway into PR for practitioners from under-represented backgrounds. We are blown away with the success of the scheme and to have been able to help people so many start or advance their careers. The scheme has helped us reach a new audience among CIPR members and the Trustees remain committed to introducing schemes aimed at improving diversity within the profession and widening our support.
